The procedure of the trial is as follows:

Step 1: A screen will appear with the text 'Prepare...' written on it. This is to indicate to you that a new trial (a new set of faces) is about to automatically start. This screen will last 3 seconds, so be prepared.

Step 2: A series of faces will be shown automatically on the screen for 1 second each.

Step 3: A screen will appear with the text 'Have you seen this person?' This screen will last for 5 seconds. Please do not answer just yet.

Step 4: A final face will appear for 10 seconds. This face may or may not have been in the series of six faces that you've just seen. It's your job to say if they were!

Step 5: The answer box is to the right of the faces (or underneath if you're using a low-resolution smartphone). If you believe you have seen the face, tick the 'Yes' box. If you didn't see the face in the line-up, tick the 'No' box. Please don't forgot to submit the answer so your score is registered!

Step 6: After you have answered, click the arrow at the top of the screen to be taken to the next trial. The study lasts only 5-10 minutes.

The next page will show you an example of how the trial works. Please click the arrow at the top to proceed.
